What is MP3?
MP3 stands for MPEG-1 layer 3 that means Motion Pictures Expert Group 1 Layer 3.
MP3 is a encoded wave file, it has sound quality nearly the same as audio CDs,
but the size of the file is much smaller than the CD format.
The size of a MP3 file comparing to a wave file is about 1:10,
but the sound quality is around 95% of the wave file.
Are MP3s legal?
MP3s are both legal or illegal,
it is legal when the song's copyright holder has grant permission to download and play the song. It's still legal if you encode the mp3 for personal use,
however it is illegal to distribute or trade MP3s without permission from the song's copyright holder. (Most mp3-sites are illegal, however Mp3-center.org isn't, if you want to know why then read our disclaimer.
How do I play MP3 files?
There are many ways in playing mp3-files. What you need to have for playing mp3s are a computer which has speakers and a sound card. If you have all these stuff you need a software to play the mp3-files, the best mp3-player out there is Winamp, but there are many other players to use. When you've downloaded and installed Winamp you need to load it with mp3-files. You can do that in many ways, the easiest way is to click on the mp3-file on your computer and it'll detect that you have Winamp and play it. You can also add mp3s to a playlist in Winamp, but that's a more advanced. What you do now is to push the "play" button... listen and enjoy!
Sometimes when I click on a download link it shows me a bunch of symbols?
Sometimes when I click on a download link it shows me a bunch of symbols?
This problem only occurs in Netscape, it's one of the Netscape problems.
If this happens, hit the back button on your browser to return to the download page,
hold Shift and click on the link again, this will fix the problem.
This is just a little thing bad about Netscape.
How can I continue download after I got disconnect?
How can I continue download after I got disconnect?
Download a program called Getright, it will let you resume download if you gets disconnected, it's a must get if you want to download MP3s.
The server is slow, is there anything I or you can do about it?
The answer is no, none of the MP3s are on Mp3-center.org's server,
we just provide links to them, I did not upload any of the songs,
and we can't do anything about the slow server. What might speed up the downloading is if you don't do anything while you download the song(s), don't surf around or download any other files. This will work sometimes.
"Server busy" What does that mean?
Sometimes when you try to download a song, it will respond with something like
"server busy" or "server not responding".
That doesn't mean the link is broken,
it just mean that the server has reached it's limited # of users.
You can try to download again in a few minutes.
How come sometimes the file I download is not a .mp3 file?
Because most of the MP3 files are illegal, they will get deleted from almost any servers.
So people rename them to something like .zip .avi or other stuff to avoid the file from getting deleted.
So when you see a file that should be .mp3 but it's not, just rename it to filename.mp3.
I downloaded a MP3 and it sounds like #@$%^*
If this happens when you download a song, just use a program called Uncook95 to fix it. Maybe the file is a .ZIP file ( renamed ). That means that you have to decompress it with Winzip.
